Veteran Hollywood actor Richard Widmark has died aged 93. A former teacher, he found fame playing the bad guy in Kiss Of Death, and went on to appear in classics of the ‘film noir’ genre such as Pickup On South Street, Judgement At Nuremberg, and Don’t Bother To Knock with Marilyn Monroe. “A brilliant, believable read…a weird and wonderful look into Marilyn Monroe’s life, from her childhood in foster homes and orphanages to her many marriages and relationships and her eventual death…though her fame certainly adds something, this would have been a really interesting read even if she wasn’t a well known name…inspiring and entertaining…a proper, engaging story that is a really fun and educational read. I learnt a lot, not just of the actress’s love for pills and booze but also about the politics of the day, but at the same time it didn’t seem at all like a history lesson.”
